Beautiful Place on top of the Cliff with direct excess to a wonderful beach. Turqoise water for snrocheling, swimming and (of course) diving!Staff there is really kind and you get the feeling of a family quickly! Of course they help you wherever they can and see really professional.4-bed-dorms ( are van equiped, with big beds and little shelfs and plugs on the side. There is enough space for every Person in the room.

I loved my stay at Blue Planet! The place itself is magnificent and pleasant with very practical beach access. The shared kitchen is a big plus!As for the diving, it was incredible! The bottoms are magnificent, white tips, black tips, rays, frog fish etc... the DM is very qualified and knows how to find the small creatures as well as the larger ones! The atmosphere is nice and the owners are really great!I recommend 100%, it was very difficult for me to leave as it is so good!Clara and Jerem

This is a very professional diving centre run by French. We dived with Jenly who was very friendly, helpful and showed us many reef sharks. Some diving centres in Sulawesi do not match European standards, but this one was great - equipment of all sizes, followed safety procedures by diving. We would recommend it and come back.

Top notch location on a cliff with beautiful views on the sea and direct access to the beach. Sylvain, Phoebe and Robin are easygoing hosts and know how to take care of their guests. The dive master shares his deep knowledge of the various local dive sites with empathy.Overall a very good value for money.Highly recommended.

I've never written a review in my life but my stay at Blue Planet was so exceptional that I can only make an exception. Phoebe, Sylvain and Robin are wonderful hosts, making a beautiful feeling of community in this little village. The diving is phenomenal. There is everything from breath-taking pelagic sightings to the weird and wonderful of macro, and all levels of divers would have an amazing experience, thanks to the expertise of guide Jenly, who is both the most skilled spotted of wildlife and charmed, and instructor Amy who will lead you through your course will kindness, wit and knowledge.Big shout out to Ida's delicious boat lunch and the lovely crew.

Amazing gem in Paradise!Blue Planet is a wonderful dive resort located on the seaside, offering a direct access to the beach and beautiful house reef for a snorkeling session at all time of the day and decadent sunsets in the afternoon! The dive operation is very well-run, the team is professional, the dive gear is well-maintained and the safety standards are spot-on. Jen the Divemaster will spot any kind of rare critters for you!The owners Sylvain, Robin and Phoebe are to thank for everything as they built everything from scratch on this remote peninsula and aim at creating a family vibe at all time. They will always be happy to share traveling tips and tales of Sulawesi around a beer at the end of the day!Thank you for everything, I’ll keep coming back!

We chose Blue Planet to do our “Advanced” level of diving. We were welcomed into a Paradise whether for the place which is simply incredible (amazing sunsets, a beer in hand in the water or on the terrace), by the lovely people or for the professionalism of(s). ) diving instructor(s).I would particularly like to thank Amy for her wise advice and all the staff on land and at sea who made us dive safely and learned lots of things!Go there with your eyes closed, you won't regret!

My friend and I had some days to spare in Sulawesi before continuing our journey. We were recommended to visit Bira Beach by some locals, so we did. Upon arriving at the port with all our luggage and realizing we couldn't walk, we asked a local man on a three-wheeled scooter for a lift to somewhere near Bira Beach. His name was Astha, and he took us to Blue Planet Dive Resort, where he himself lived and worked. As it looked nice and had a reasonable price, we decided to stay. That turned out to be the best decision. The team at Blue Planet was the kindest, most welcoming group, and we had some fantastic days where, as spontaneously as our stay, we learned to dive with an Open Water course. The best-case scenario and the loveliest days in Sulawesi.

Spectacular diving in Bira with a wide variety of coral and fish life. We loved each single dive and were well taken care of by the Blue Planet family. Our dive master Jen was a great spotter and made each dive stand out. Thank you Blue Planet for taking care of our family ✨

Had the pleasure of staying at Blue Planet from April to July and loved every second of it.Sylvain and Phoebe have created an amazing atmosphere, and run a top shelf dive resort. I'm sure it will be a long time before I have another diving experience that can come close to what they have provided. The boat, which in of itself was great, is captained by a solid sea worthy chap and his son, both of whom make sure the dive trip is safe (and exciting).Couldn't recommend this place higher if you're looking to have a spectacular experience both under and above the water.Miss you guys!

I did 2 days of diving with Blue Planet and really enjoyed my time there. The staff and owners were friendly, welcoming and professional. The dive centre is well run and the diving was great too.I didn’t stay here but the accommodation looked clean and comfortable and it’s a lovely place to socialise after a day of diving.
We had an amazing time with my family diving with Blue Planet Dive Resort Team !They took good care of our young novice kids ( 12 and 11) to enjoy the beauty of this unknown yet diving spot. Turtle, sharks, crocodile fish, sea snakes, etc...Bira is definitely a diving spot to discover with them!See you soon for sure !

What to expect

  • Bira is a small fishing village about 5 hours away from Makassar, the closest big city.
  • On our stretch of the beach, you’ll find various hotels and resorts, all within walking distance of the dive center.
  • The diving in Bira is excellent, with enough to please divers of any level. We dive in small groups and you will seldom meet other divers underwater.
  • The best season is from June to mid-November, but we dive all year long, adapting the sites chosen based on conditions.
  • The boat generally goes out for 2 fun dives, with a free meal served during the surface interval. Equipment rental is also included in the price.
  • We are subject to weather conditions and tides, meaning that the departure time for the boat varies from day to day, and for your safety, the choice of dive sites can be changed at the last minute.

About us

We are Phoebe, Sylvain and Robin, 3 half-French, half-British friends who fell in love with Indonesia as travellers in 2013. For several years, we spent as much time here as we could, diving and getting to know the culture.

We wanted to start a small business that would support locals and provide an enjoyable and safe diving experience for visitors. We also had to stay true to our values – conservation, community and fun.

Blue Planet Dive Resort was born in 2019 with an amazing team of Bira locals. Since then, we’ve been slowly re-investing and expanding, building new accommodation and expanding our fleet of boats.

More of a close-knit village than a conventional resort, what distinguishes Blue Planet is the convivial atmosphere that reigns here. Seasoned fun divers and complete beginners can mingle with interns from the Indo Ocean Project who live on-site for several months.

We’re so proud of what we and our team have built here, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

We’re on the map!

About Bira

Tucked away on the southern point of Sulawesi, Bira is a quiet but vibrant small town built around several ports and endless white sandy beaches. It’s a great place to take in the views from the oceanfront cliffs, check out the unique boat-building community, or explore the many hidden caves in the area.

Small, family-run restaurants here serve up incredible local cuisine (as spicy as you want!) and the music of the local mosques can often be heard across the water.
Access Bira by flying into Makassar then travelling the six-hour drive southeast in a private or shared car with a driver. Ask us for more information.
